Works over regular telephone lines; however, the distance between your router and the equipment at telephone station is limited. Speeds up to 12Mbit available.

Fiber Optics

TOT offers fiber optics lines for homes and businesses. Very useful for people with a lot of outgoing traffic because the channel is symmetric (for example 10Mbit download/10 Mbit upload). A lot more reliable technology than ADSL, but if the fiber is broken you might have a long wait for repairs...

Cable Internet from True Corporation

True advertises up to 100Mbps upload/10Mbps download package via cable modem (same technology as used for the cable TV).

GPRS/EDGE

Works through your mobile phone connected to your computer. All mobile phone providers have this service now. USB modems are abound and inexpensive.

UMTS/HSDPA

At the moment available only in Patong and Airport area from True Corporation. The service is on 850 MHz, not many smartphones support it (IPhone 4 does). Please visit True 3G page for more details.

Wireless Hotspots

CAT Telecom CDMA

ipStar

Satellite dish providing two-way Internet connectivity. The only high-speed solution in remote areas until CDMA coverage will grow. The declared speeds can be high but in reality they are rarely true. Go for CDMA instead if you are within coverage. No real IPs.

ACeS Satellite Network

Used mostly on boats, the FR-190G ACeS terminal supports Internet communication at the data rate of 2400 bps. Obviously at this speed and cost of about 20 baht per minute it is mostly used for plain text emails.

Regular Modem

Almost nobody uses them anymore...

Our company provides affordable solutions to use 2 or more different internet links together to increase bandwidth and to provide automatic failover if one or more links fail. For example, a hotel may use 3 ADSL links in parallel and have an automatic switchover to ipStar if there is a major problem with a telephone cables.
