GPRS Information

You can use a mobile phone to access Internet from your computer through GPRS (the phone should have GPRS modem, check specifications).

There are three possibilities to connect you phone to PC: Serial/USB cable, Infrared Port (IrDA) and Bluetooth. We have experience with most common mobile brands (Nokia, Motorola, Siemens, Samsung, Sony Ericsson etc.). Please note what for some models the data cable is not easy to find and it can take 1-2 weeks to get it by order. For as low as 3000 baht you can buy an excellent second-hand mobile phone with bluetooth and GPRS, like Sony Ericsson T630 or others, and Bluetooth USB dongle will cost you less than a 1000 baht.

It is also possible to buy a dedicated GPRS modem, which can be a USB or PCMCIA device, but the prices for these are still unreasonable. The only advantage of GPRS modems is what they don't need an external power adaptor for charging. Solomon GPRS modem can work with any SIM cards; on the other hand, Sony Ericsson PCMCIA GPRS card is usually locked to one provider (DTAC).
