With only one PC and no plans to have more computers, user ADSL USB modem or (preferably) ADSL router. With the USB modem your computer will be encumbered with the software and drivers for it. The router is set up once; normally, you can plug another computer in it and no further configuration would be necessary. Good routers also offer firewall capability, adding another layer of protection to your PC. USB modems offer none of it.
If you have (or planning to have) 2 to 4 computers, use ADSL router with integrated 4-port switch. This way you will save on the cost of separate hub/switch.
More than 4 computers: use ADSL router and a separate hub/switch.
If you have a Linux server in your company, you can connect an ADSL router without firewall to it (like Zyxel 660R) and configure firewall and connection sharing on the server. This is the most flexible solution; however, server must be powerful enough to handle all your internet traffic without delay.
