We finally located a reliable source with reasonable prices for 1.8″ HDDs (PATA and SATA). Available on order, delivery time about 2 weeks. Shorter delivery times possible but it’s more expensive.

Disassembly time: 5-10 minutes

Bottom RAM cover, wireless card cover and DVD-ROM removal is NOT necessary. Removing battery when disassembling notebooks is always a good idea.

Bottom side:

• Undo 2 screws marked with arrows with dots by the sides of the battery
• Undo 7 screws at the perimeter and 1 screw roughly at the center

Top side:

• There are two latches at the top of the keyboard, push them up and gently pry the keyboard off, top edge first.
• Unlatch the keyboard ribbon cable
• Undo 2 screws holding the aluminium memory plate
• Pull off two other ribbon cables by the tabs
• Very carefully disconnect two speakers connectors on the left using pincers
• Undo 3 screws holding the top cover
• Lift the top cover
• HDD is on your right fixed by 3 small screws

After replacing the HDD reassemble in the reverse sequence

Two nights ago thieves stole a notebook from an office of our customers but had to abandon it because they were noticed. They run away and threw a notebook into a drainage ditch full of water. Notebook was found only 2 hours after. Today we finished a hard cleanup and recovery and retrieved 100% of data.
