Thats so much for the driver and instructions. Been looking for a working Windows 7 Sound driver for my K8V-MX all day. After failing to install the correct one i was just about to give me on the assumption perhaps there wasn’t a driver that worked until i came upon this one. So Cheers!!

37. June 16th, 2012 at 08:07 | #37

It works, but using the microphone jack.

If you want to use normal speaker output jack (and keep mic input?), download:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=13365
SoundMax AD1888 AC97 driver for Intel boards v5.12.01.5500
Windows XP x32 x64, Vista x32 x64

Extract the file (with WinRAR or some other tool).

Find smwdmSIS.inf in either Vista32 or Vista64 folder (for Windows7 x32 or x64).

modify:
%*WDM_AC97AUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_ASUS, pci\ven_1039&dev_7012&subsys_80F31043
to:
%*WDM_AC97AUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_ASUS, pci\ven_1106&dev_3059&subsys_810D1043

and add this device to the platform.cfg file at the bottom under VIA (it’s in one of the subdirs)

; VIA platforms
[11063059-53681071]
[11063059-810D1043]

Didn’t work for me. The speaker icon showed as installed but then I keep getting the “Blue Screen of Death” and it shuts down. Don’t even have time to do a thing.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling after a system restore and the same thing….dam
